Clare Island

Tim your gonna love the wideangle lens. Its such fun, I think, to use in the water. (vis depending).
I found the 105mm sigma lens quite time consuming. Really need to get the focusing light working for it at any sort of depth. When it does finally get a photo they can be quite amazing. It just has such a small focal lenght its kinda touch and go. If it misses the focusing, the lens goes all the way in and back out again to try get a focus. This drains the battery much quicker !!
Im (hopefully) getting out to Sandycove tonight for a shore dive, so will bring the 105mm.
The wideangle is great. Just have fun framing the subjects and shoot
I really only did a shore dive in killary b4 so cant compare too good. BUT, I have to say there was NOT much fish around the island...Im thinking its been fished out of it unfortunatly. They have fish farms there now breeding salmon. The topology it really nice. Lots of kelp, sea urchens and starfish. Just looking at your last pics from killary I would say killary has more to offer. Clare Island has only just got its dive centre (well the compressor is there) so maybe they will discover new dive sights as they go.
I was very impressed with it, but probably thats because im used to this crap vis over here on the east coast
