Dave,

I learnt a lot that applied specifically to my set-up and current standard. One of the things that was really impressed upon me was how much time and concentration you need to spend before each shot and making sure you really work a subject before moving on but moving on quickly if the subject just isn't working. Another simple one was to get some kind of eye contact if you're photographing beasties - it's surprising how much difference it makes. One of things that will make a big difference to the technical side of my photos is my strobe placement, Martin showed me a placement that is reproducible and should dramatically reduce backscatter - I can't wait to try it out.
