At least with photographing butterflies in the UK you don't run the risk of being bitten by something that's going to kill you!!

PS the reason I find butterflies good subjects is that it also teaches you how to photo fish, they wont do what you want and you have to be clever and think on your feet. I also like photographing flowers outside when it's slightly windy as that's the same as trying to photo in the sea with a slight current or surge.
