If money is an issue then I would look at the 10.5 or 15. Both can be used without gears and neither require an extension ring. That will save £250 on top of the cost of the lens in the short term. S&S does not show the 10-17 as being compatible with the compact dome port and so you would also need the extra cost of the fisheye dome unless you are happy to lose the sharpness in the corner.

If you fancy trying out wide angle then I'd be happy to join you on a dive and lend you mine.
