Smile Coron, Philippines

Hi,

I guess 'blue water' means warm as the water was actually green and very snotty with viz ranging from 5m to 25m on an outlying reef.
Anyway, here are the best I could manage. Only my 3rd attempt at taking underwater shots of any degree (1st abroad).

Any comments more than welcome, thanks for looking.

Cheers,

Paul

I like the composition on the ray and the lionfish. Interesting angles. The one on the nudi shots (taken from above) is abit flat, though.

BTW, did you get to do the Cathedral and the Barracuda Lake? Havent' been there for a couple of years now, but I loved the place...

Hi and thanks for the constructive reply.

I did Barracuda Lake, that must count as the most bizarre dive I've ever done.
Cathedral was sadly lacking due to high winds and rough (ish) seas when I visited.

Loved Singapore BTW.

Cheers,

Paul

Gorgeous colours on these pictures you must be pleased!
Yes I like the ray its a different angle. I also like the picture of the clown/anenome/nemo fish. Normally I dont like photos of these they are so common and boring but yours is a little different. The colours have come out well the grey/blue colour of the anenome is a bit different and it has caught the movement of the fish well it seems a very 'active' photo despite the fact its looking down on one of the fish which usually tends to flatten it out.

Thanks Jane, yes I am pleased with them. They were all mostly shot in RAW and using Apeture priority. No strobe though.

I like the Ray shot aswell, except the bright background which is a little off putting, but without asking him/her nicely to move so I could get a full length shot without it that was the best I could do. I spotted it lying there, I got closer (slowly) thinking it would swim off, no he/she stayed put. I took a couple of shots then moved in closer, still no movement (maybe he/she thinks they were hidden and couldn't be seen). It was only when I left that it moved and a rather peed off party of my group lost the chance of a shot hehe.

There were alot of the common clown in their resident anenome's, so was able to practice different angles on different dives and I the one I posted above is the best of the bunch (IMO).

Thankyou for your comments.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Nice pics, thanks for sharing them. I'm no expert but I think the colours on the nudis are lovely (especially the first one). I also particularly like the 2nd clownfish shot and the ray, great that he let you get that close.
