What Is IT?
Took This on The Thesis and did not spot the little critter on the right until I put it on the PC

I think I would also say Butterfish.
Great capture BTW. Shame you didn't see it whilst you took the photo - still thats all part of 'The UW Photographers Way'.

What Is IT?
I've got the "trainspotters book of fish" in front of me, or British Sea Fishes as its usually known and this could indeed be a young Butterfish (or Gunnel). Fully grown they are 25cm, but only grow 1-2cm a year.
Key features: Conspicuous spots along base of dorsal fin, eel-like body, one long dorsal fin and black stripe through eye. Although I must say your fish is a lot darker than in the book. And why are they called Butterfish? Because they have a layer of mucus on the outside that makes them very difficult to pick up. [I knew that book would come in handy one day ]
