In children's terms? First you push that little knob on the side and then...

Ah... what camera do you have? Canon or Olympus?

In short you want to find the whitebalance button. There should be one provided the camera is a medium advanced one.

At depth, say 20 meters, point the camera at something white, so that most of the screen is covered. Then click on what the camera will have you clicking.
What happens is that the camera "boosts" the red since it can't find much red when you point the camera at something white.

Ha ha,

Maybe not that basic, thanks.

I have an olympus 7070.

Does it make much of a difference changing the WB ?

Yes it does make quite a difference, especially at depth. I'll see if I can find an example

These pictures of my local "house wreck" Belgica were both taken at about 20 meters depth. The first one was taken without any colour correction and then photoshopped as best as I could to bring out a bit of colour.

On this picture here I found a piece of white plastic on the sea bottom and changed the white balance. All I did in photoshop afterwards was to change the contrast and brightness. It might be a tad too blue, but that's no problem. Green and Blue there's always enough of under water. You want as much red as possible, since it's only possible to remove red, not add it...

I guess the settings on a C7070 are about the same as on the 5060. I'll give you a quick walk-through.

We had this discussion on YD before the days of Digigreen, http://www.yorkshire-divers.co.uk/fo...ad.php?t=11586. It really does make a difference, particularly if you are using ambient light!!

I have no problems joining YD today at least.

1. Try pressing down CTRL while clicking on the link

2. Try cleaning the cache by going to tools>internet options. It could be that your Explorer is giving you a hard time because the cache is full.
