I drowned it at St abbs yesterday.

Repeat after me... No body got hurt... it's only a camera...

No! Still doesnt help! Especially since it was my own stupid fault

I killed my camera

Rushing!

You know the little black string that keeps the black thing that goes round the screen from getting lost when it falls off? Well that was trapped in the o ring and i didnt notice it when i shut the back. First thing I knew I was at 15 m with Josie and spotting some things I wanted to photograph and noticed housing nearly full with water.

Repeat... no body got hurt... It's only a camera....

No ot's Still not working!

A few weeks back they had 5050s on Ebay going for about 200 quid. I am tempted to replace like with like since I know how to use it and it took me long enough to learn. I would get a new housing anyhow since that one is all horrid inside now and I have dropped it and bashed it afew times .

My only consolation is that I have had my moneys worth in pleasure and entertainment out of that camera and at least it wasn't brand new. It has been used and abused and still did a great job. If I had been more careful with it I probably wouldnt have taken it on so many dives.

I feel totally bereft, In Tenerife I didnt take it on one dive (because I lent it to Matt) and Mikey said I looked lost and not my usual self.

poor Pixie

Anyone got any ideas about suitable replacements?

I killed my camera

Hi Jules,

Very sorry to hear about the camera.

If you can try a 7070 great camera but more work when you use the supermacro.

I saw quite a few 5050`s on e-bay last week, they may be still on or Christine bought hers from digital depot and it was delivered within 24 hours.

Glad no one was hurt , except the poor wee camera....

Dave + Christine.

I killed my camera

Hey sorry to hear about the camera...Never a nice thing to happen.

I have flooded 2 consumer and 1 SLR digital cameras....Not by choice mind you...But the number one reason for camera floods is, RUSHING. Everybody kitting up at the same time, grabbing their own gear on a small rib, can create an air of panic. Because diving is a sport where the equipment gets knocked about, alot of accidents do happen...Weights falling, fin straps breaking, forgotten gear, unable to equalize....
Digital cameras and housings are just very particular and unfortunatly need to be assembled perfectly everytime...

Canon S40, Canon S50 and only this year a Canon 300D slr. Only thing hurt is my bank account...

I recommend if you were happy with the camera, that you go straight back out and buy a replacment one....even secondhand if you can...

Cheers

Well, I might be tempted to sell my PT-015. It'd have to come with the ULCS tray and handle and Inon WAL and lens caddy tho.

I killed my camera

Jules,
Sorry to hear about the camera, as I also lost a camera through a rushed action, I know how you feel. At least when it's kit malfunction you feel like it was someone elses fault.

I was also at St Abbs, one of the girls on our boat told me that she was underwater when some other femail showed her a flooded camera, was that you?

I'll hold off posting my St Abbs photos.....

Rob

I killed my camera

If it makes you feel any better, I got back from St Abbs to find a dead hard drive in my computer. This happens to be the HD with all my photos on. Just had some very funny quotes on getting the data back. I've only lost all photos from July 15th (last backup date).

Looks like I need a new hard drive and some sort of back up. Don't seem to remember these sorts of problems with analogue photography.
