Unfortunately I have to be working in Turkey this weekend so can't make it - what a bummer.

Dive show on Sunday?

well i ended up at the dive show but didnt get around too much. Saw Fiona B and Lou and caroline and mr and mrs scuba chick and David A and a host of other people. so spend most of the time chatting and drawing up a list of dive destinations... so many places so little time money and childcare!

Dive Show

Well I didnt get to the Farnes OR the dive show! I would have liked to chat to the cameras underwater guys and examine shiny things. Brass fittings with chromed ends...... bliss. Shiny flash connectors that aren't necessarily compatible with anything. Oh just to hold them and rub them in ones hands. Ah well, think i'll have to make a purchase from my japense contact in the form of a UWL100 dome port and an extra lens port for my spare PT-027. I earn too much.

Dive show on Sunday?

Sorry to hear you earn too much. I can help with this, from now on just buy two of everything and send the spare one to me to take care of for you. Simple (almost Viz-like) solution which I am happy to offer to everyone who earns too much.
I earn sufficient but I have two teenagers who cost too much...

I tried to look at some of the camera suppliers as I wanted to talk strobes and wideangles lenses etc but everytime I went they were mobbed and since I wasn't buying they probably would have marked me down quickly as a time waster.

Dive show on Sunday?

Hey Jules, maybe you could sell a teenager to Johnny Boy and solve both your problems!

Thoroughly enjoyed the show - had a rebreather try dive, (And up until then point I'd thought underwater photography was expensive!), played with lots of heavy and expensive SLR kit on various photo stands, met loadsa folk I knew and some I didn't until Sunday, and, fingers crossed, sold some holidays - but on the whole would rather have been in the water someplace.

Dive show on Sunday?

Mike,
How on earth did you get anywhere near the camera stands, was that before opening? I waited 30 minutes to buy some o-rings from Cameras Underwater and didn't get chance to say hello to Heather Hammond or Alan James on their stall, far too busy. Think this reflects diving, many stands were empty, but cameras are now really popular.

I really enjoyed talking to BSoUP and meeting up again with Tony White - now his photos are amazing. There were jaw-dropping shots everywhere.

I first went to the dive show 4 years ago. In that time it has become much more about international diving and a lot less about the UK. I personally find that disappointing as there is plenty of room for both. I wanted to find out more about great UK sites, but there were very few stands representing good old homegrown fun. There was also an absence of many of the "traditional" big players.
Rob

PS Jules, sorry for not meeting up. No offense, but I really didn't want to meet you, I wanted you to be in the Farnes photting. Maybe we'll meet at the Photo event at Stoney?
