Post Processing is Subjective
One thing I think would help me learn more about post processing and what others do would be if several of us all tried to post-process the same photo, be it RAW or Jpeg, in PS or PSP, a macro or WA photo, natural light or flashed, housed compact or DSLR etc. If we all give it a try on a selected photo and report what we did I think we could all learn a lot.
Anyone up for this? It is coming up to Winter after all. Perhaps we could have a monthly post-processing challenge. Rob

Well I'm all in, but the pic should really be available in RAW, since you've taken away so many options once you end up with the JPEG'ed shortcuts.
My suggestion is the picture for work should be shown in JPEG then the person holding the image can send the RAW version by mail. Low tech but only way doable since RAW seldom can be uploaded to standard webhosts... Unless someone has a way... ![]() |

Mike
After reading on here, or it might have been Yorkshire Divers, I downloaded the free RAW Shooter essentials: http://www.pixmantec.com/products/rawshooter.html This is a great program, but in the free version you can't change levels, so if you've messed up the original there isn't a great deal you can do. For comparison I opened a RAW in PS last night and just couldn't replicate the output from RS. This was mainly as I couldn't get PS to apply the WB set on the camera, which RS allows. There are websites that can host larger documents for download, so we could use these for these tests. So anyone like to put forward a photo for treatment? (go on Jules...) Rob

yes ok, I will look through what I took this weekend and post some examples. Not now though cos I am off to bed with a stinking cold. I dont know how we will distribute the RAW copies though? I tried to Email one Raw pic to David A and it filled his mail box. Can I suggest we all get Gmail accounts because they have unlimited storage (I think)
Anyone wanting one can send me their email address via PM or via my gmail account and I will send you an invite. It's scubapixelpixie at gmail dot com jules |

I posted a selection of pics from the weekend in Mull in the green water photo section. If anyone wants to chose one to play with then I can send them the untouched RAW version.
Anyone wanting to open a gmail account so these pics dont fill their real one then let the scubapixie know where to send the invite... |
