I wonder if you can help me, I've almost finished the first attempt at building my own website, would you mind having a look at it and letting me know your thoughts and what I can improve please
My underwater photoghraphy journey - Home Unfortunately there is a typo on the site title (photoghraphy) which I am unable to change and am waiting for the support guys to come back to me on ![]() So, how else can I make it better?

well, the white bit on top could be a bit smaller. On my screen (1200x1600) the bit that actually has images and text in it is quite small. You could aim at a larger size screens than 800 wide. Very few people use that anymore.
To me, the copyright marks are a bit overdone and ruining the experience of the images. Other then a small picture on the web, nobody that steals your images will be able to do so much with them anyway.

Pictures!
Would agree with cerianthus reduce the white section and adjust your title banner. Your doing this website to show of those images, and tell people about yourself. So i would pop some images on the front page, and keep the copyright to just one line, reduce the image quality. some cracking pics well done. simon.

Thanks chaps - someone else has mentioned photos on the home page - will get that sorted asap
The title banner is a bit of an ongoing issue but I think with the site support guys I may have found a way to resolve that Agree with the copyright - I need to do that in editing (but don't know how!) rather than relying on the standard web software to do it as it's ruining the images Thanks very much, very helpful ![]()

I confess that when i first saw this thread I saved the link to my favourites to go back and have a look at a later date. That date has just arrived and it's really nice from my point of view i am just embarking on the DSLR route and the tips and pointers you have on your site are really good. I find it easy on the eye aswell.
I am sure it will be responsible for many a person going and spending lots of cash on new cameras and workshops |

Thanks for the inspiration Tazzie! I've been feeling so frustrated lately because I haven't had as much time as I would have liked to concentrate on my underwater photography, together with attempting to get used to a new compact (and failing miserably) Looking at your web site was just what I needed. Maybe one day I'll pluck up the courage to house my DSLR after all.

Wow! I'm really pleased it's helpful, I certainly wasn't expecting that!! I built it so I could share the photos and have tried to keep the "experiences" short (but I do have a tendancy to ramble on!) but will try and put more effort in from now on!
Thanks again for the feedback ![]()

Cool site, it's quick to load and easy to navigate. It's also really good to know I'm not the only person in the world to have major issues getting anything noteworthy out of my new DSLR (about 10 dives with it, and 3 reasonable (i.e. in focus, flash worked, remembered batteries\CF card etc) shots...!).
I think your watermark is too distracting though, and I would personally get rid of it or replace it with something really subtle. You're never goign to stop your stuff getting stolen on the web if someone really wants it, so just keep the image size small and the quality low and you should be all right. If you really want a watermark, you can do that in an editting program by adding text in a large, bold font and setting the style to 'emboss'. You can also reduce the transparency (in PS at least) to make it a bit more subtle. Looks good to me though, I'll be keeping an eye on it ![]() Zan
