Whereto buy lens from
Hey all,
I have finally got my grubby mitts on the D70 and Sea & Sea housing, in the hope that we get some more sun I am now looking to buy lenses and ports. I'm hoping to do a day with Martin Edge before I go on his red sea trip in july to which is going to restrict me to just the one lens and port for now. My first lense will be the Nikon 60mm Micro but where to buy? Does anyone have any links to any good sites where I might save a few pennies? The cheapest I have found so far is jessops (using a discount code) but that can't be right. When i phoned cameras underwater she asked me if had much nterest in macro photography as if I didn't the the 60mm would not be a good choice as I would have no interest. When I replied yes with a hint of uncertainty. She asked if i was sure, I said well to be honest I have always liked the idea of macro but the results i got from my compact were always a little disappointing so became a little annoyed. But it was nice to see some one give you honest advice with out any hard sell attached. |

Other than eBay, I often refer to this website:
Nikon AF 60mm f/2.8 Micro Cheapest Prices, Reviews and Price History For second hand I often check: Used Cameras and Photographic Equipment and UK camera shops - a database of camera shops and photographic manufacturers plus information on digital and classic cameras HTH, Rob

Personally I would look on ebay. Some of the Hong Kong traders are doing the older model for £200 inc postage or the AFS for £360 with no VAT. I've use DigitalRev on there several times for lenses without issue.
Second hand are a bit cheaper. For the ports, many people use Yuzo who is a lot cheaper than UK suppliers. If you want UK suppliers then it is really just Camerasunderwater or Kevin. The thing to remember is that you have three choices for a macro port for the 60mm; a base port and S port, a standard flat port, or custom flat port. The base port option is more flexible in upgrading for other lenses, the standard is the cheapest option, the custom will give you manual focus option. If money is tight then it is also worth remembering that the Sigma equivalents to the Nikon macro lenses are nice glass and a fair bit less money. Daniel |

I've used Warehouse Express lots but recently found Jessops to be cheaper on some lenses as they are offering cashbacks (well with Canon anyway) Defo worth a check as some of the advice has been helpful too
