PT-023 I know told you so!!

Went to Cyprus at the weekend to dive the zenobia on a friends stag weekend.

Took my camera (Olympus 8080) and housing (PT-023) in hand lugagge.
Lovingly looked after it all flight got there and checked o rings and loaded the camera. Last few checks at the dive shop and the front port kept coming off, thought maybe user error!! Looked closely at it and one of the locking lugs on the main housing had gone snapped off.

I know there are problems with these housings, but it was ok until then.
Mananged to borrow a friends mju 400 and get a few pictures using my Q40 led even in the very dark car decks.

So got home yesterday and ordered a Ikelite housing going to hopefully
a. get money back from shop for Olympus housing
b. replaced with a new one
c. get it repaired

If b or c hopefully sell it on ebay and get a few quid back.
I wish.

I think this camera housing would be great for warm water diving or occasional use but i want to take my camera on evey dive!

Thats one way to learn a lesson.

Jeez, you must have been gutted when you realised the housing was broken - what a bummer; but at least you managed to salvage the situation.

Was the housing insured?

Let us know how you get on wrt the refund.

PT-023 I know told you so!!

Yep I was gutted.
But at least it did not happen underwater!!

Yep loads of video and pictures taken by me and a few others on other cameras. Oh the shots I might have got.
If only

Housing is insured under house insurance at the moment so i dont see me getting anything back that route. Full insurance for the new one with westfield when i do get it though.

I will keep you posted on the refund or lack off.

Hi I have just bought an 8080wz with an Ikelite because of probs with the oly housing. A guy at Cameras underwater said they have stopped selling them because of the probs. But can I ask u what settings u use in blue & green water most diving I do is west coast scotland but going to red sea next week and basic settings would save me some time
