My Mode Settings

Hi all,
I have programmed 2 extra my modes on my 5060 ready for trying out the new toy, after reading through the stuff on Splashdown.

Was wondering if his baseline settings of F5, 1/100 for wide and F8, 1/60 for Super Macro are a good starting point for Green as opposed to Blue water?

Any thoughts etc most welcome.

Its all trial and error for a while now!

Cheers.
Paul.

My Mode Settings

Hi Paul,

I use 1/250th and f4 on my camera as an 'entering the water' setting for blue water, and 1/60th, f4 for green water, on the basis that shutter speed affects mainly the background, aperture the foreground. I'd like a higher shutter speed to avoid camera shake as I think shake affects digis more than film cameras as the sensors are so small, but at 50 ISO this is the best I can do.

For macro I rack up the shutter speed as high as poss (1/1000sec) and use the smallest aperture I can. Logic here is that the aperture should be as small as possible to get the best depth of field, and as the only light on the subject will be coming from the the strobe the shutter speed is unimportant, so the faster the better.

In my opinion the ability to use any shutter speed with flash is a real advantage to P&S digis.

Good luck!
