Following instructions as per page 92 of the advanced handbook [mode menu] > [camera] > [function]>[Panorama] Trouble is Panorama is a different colour and not avialable. Any ideas? You sure you selected the xD card and it isn't looking at the CF? Press the xD/CF button and it should switch between the 2. Alternatively take your CF out and it will automatically see the xD. If that fails, has the xD card ever been reformatted by your PC? I read that reformatting SmartMedia cards wiped the Olympus header on the flash memory, might be the same on xD. You could get programs to add this back on to the SM, don't know if these exist for xD, but they never worked for my SM card reader anyway. Hope that helps, Rob

yes, it was on the XD card setting. Don't know what the problem was. In the end I rang the Oly European help line
for technical questions and support Toll-free number: 00800 - 67 10 83 00 (available Mon-Fri 9am to 6pm CET) and the nice man talked me through it. I have to turn on the ALL RESET function to get it to work but now it's all back to factory default settings. Do you think Bill Gates has anything to dowith the camera software?? ) |

I didn't mean to patronise, but I had to ask the obvious. sounds like a similar problem to the one I refered to with the Smart Media, but in those days you couldn't get the panorama back. One of the big failings with the 7070 in my opinion is that you can't store the settings on a PC. I use my camera just as much top side as underwater. I have 3 My Modes for underwater, just leaving 1 left for top side - not enough. You can update firmware, so why not store your settings? [this is the point where I hope someone tells me that you can!!] Rob

Short answer is no you cant unless you want to effectively hack your own camera! I wonder why on earth Olympus decided on only 4 my modes for the 7070 Don't make any sense to me! Cheers, Paul.

Didn't think you were being patronising at all Mate, usually with me it's an RTFM problem but in this case i was reading the manual and still it didnt work. I dont know why that parorama option disapeared but re-appeared when i turned on the power on reset. Definitely a touch of the help line operative tellin you to reboot and then it all comes good but you never know what caused it in the first place. oh well! Now struggling with stitching together the images using the software supplied with the camera. I think you have to upgrade to a better version.. back to reading the FM jules |
