60m dive! What do I do?

On Sunday I am planning to dive a wreck in 60m out of Falmouth, I have no concerns about the dive it is within my qualifications and experience.

What is concerning me is what to take. The F10 housing has been to 54m, do I risk 60m, the camera is not insured. This is why I recently posted about the depth ratings of camera housings.

I have a video (swearing to some) camera in a 100m housing that I plan to take, but ideally I would like to take a stills camera too. Do I risk it?
If I don't I could always grab some frames off the video, pity I cannot operate the photo button on the camera from outside the housing.

Re: 60m dive! What do I do?

Ikelite do a 60m housing for the F10 for £200, plus about £40 for the adaptor mounts for wide/macro lenses - but then you're into spending money and back to the 'upgrade or not' question, though if you regularly dive that deep you certainly need to consider a deeper rated housing.

Or maybe that ain't deep for you, in which case you're looking at really expensive kit or your pressurisation idea.

For this weekend maybe you should take down the Fuji in the 40m housing and regard a flood/implosion as a hint that you really do need to upgrade?

Joke!

Re: 60m dive! What do I do?

Personally I wouldn't risk it, just take the video (nothing wrong with video!). But I have flooded a camera before and with a new baby in the house I know I wouldn't be able to replace broken kit. One thing that is possible is its fine on the 60m dive but does some form of damage that could go on your next much shallower dive.

Thanks Mike, I think I am spending money tomorrow, Ikelite housing, adaptor for 67mm, wide converter, macro lens, etc.etc.

I will have for sale a standard F10 housing, also the Fuji Strobe and arm by the looks of things.

Bad Joke.

Any idea who is the cheapest person to buy Ikelite from? It's still gotta be cheaper than going DSLR.

I think Cameras Underwater are the sole Ikelite dealer in the UK?

Re: 60m dive! What do I do?

Ok, so it looks like I may have to buy the Ikelite housing from Cameras Underwater, as well as the adaptor, as far as I can tell the concensus is to go for 67mm, so that other manufacturers lenses will fit.

Where is the best place to buy a wide converter?

As to the depth Mike, 60m is deep, but not as deep as I have been or plan to go again. I would hope a 60m housing could reach 80m!
