Underwater Video Work

Howdy,

Right then, Heres a question for the masses...

I want to shoot video footage under water....

Ive got all the post production stuff on the computer and a really good editing computer and software. Also have a couple of video cameras, in particular the sony DCR-HC37 which i reckon ought be perfect for under water stuff. Also have a custom divers HID torch gathering dust somewhere.

Heres the questions.... Practically speaking what else do I need to to shoot underwater.... I assume more lights, housing and maybe more.... Anyone any ideas on basic setups and estimated costs... Do I need to win the lottery first

take care all

I do not claim to know anything about video at all but camerasunderwater appear to do an Ikelite housing and light package for your camera for £889. See here.

A friend of mine used to use a bit of clear plastic tubes with some blocks glued in to hold the camera, a perspex front glued on and two marigold gloves as seals. Cost him a next to nothing. He actually got some decent footage without flooding it. Not recommended though.

Not sure id risk a camera based on my DIY ability!! Saying that knew someone who reckoned he could make a DIY scuba rig. Not sure if he ever tested it though!!!
