Just had a look at the winning pictures in February's Diver (page 24). Sort of wish I'd been confident enough to enter mine - I think I might have stood a chance!

[On the subject of Diver, Tim is rather relieved. I do a bit of dive writing for an internet magazine ( www.travel-dive.com ) and I sent Diver an extract from one of my pieces last month when they were asking for Red Sea experiences. They've printed it (page 33) but they'd asked for some photos as well. I'd been ribbing Tim that I was going to be the first to get pictures published - but luckily for him they obviously weren't good enough, so he's off the hook!]

Well done on the publication - keep sending 'em stuff and one day...

Liked the Scapa article as well, thanks for the link! Dived there a long time ago, but I was a baby diver and I think I'd get more from it these days.

Oh, and about the contest - not seen the winners, but my experience of photo contests is that they only ever employ idiots with the aesthetic sensibilites of a breeze-block as judges, so I have no doubt whatever that your shot is far better than the second rate garbage they actually chose.

Er, unless anyone from here was a/ in the competition and b/ placed, in which case the judges got it dead right.

Actually, it's the first thing I've ever put their way. I'm quite happy having my stuff on Travel Dive - they pay more!
