Hi Simon,
I think this is quite a fun humorous photo which shows the lighter side of what we do. It's well lit and the angle of subject gives the image a little interest than if it had been 'straight'. The other comment's are that you've clipped the face and that it would have been good to frame the photo so that the face is more to the left and up a little. Now this is really picky but you can't see the eye on the left because of the bubble - another frame and it wouldn't be there. Thanks for posting. Tim

Thanks for the comments tim.
I find framing up can be a bit of a challenge sometimes, only have a small viewing window in the light & motion housing. so its a case of do you move the camera or yourself? and do you use the camera as well as your eye?. Did have better composition on other shots, but the ttl was well out, 2mtr distance and images were well under exposed.so i would imagine there is position/distance were ttl is less effective and manual a better option?. Ended up swapping to manual on the roc panel and fired the strobes up to say 60%power. This was the only image that was any good out off 5 taken. Taken on board, the clipping of the face. Just wanted that bit more on the right, as you say to move the image more to the left. Not sure on, moving the face up. The image in my mind was trying to capture the bubbles as well as the face. So best of both, would be to use 50mm zoom instead of 80mm zoom. And bringing in more of the area outside the shot. And bugger those bubbles never play ball, what time do you push the button. just as the diver finishes or just as he begins blowing bubbles? Or do i ask him not to breath out!! and wait for the signal ,and i can imagine the signal some people would give![]() Please bear in mind my oly is like snail mail in comparision to some cameras. Good job it was in jpeg settings, and not 7 second raw images or by the time you take another shot all the bubbles would of gone .simon. Come on people lets have some more images, and comments. And get the brains tick and the cameras clicking!!.

Simon actually I agree with you rather than Tim
(very daring of me )but I like that space above, I do agree that it needs to be a fraction more to the left so that the chin is properly in the picture but not so much that it becomes central as that space on the left leads round to the space at the top and you are almost waiting for the bubbles to reach it. The only other thing i would mention is, was he holding his breath a long time? cos he looks very pink! I think it needs a little tweaking to get the skin colour more natural - unless of course its my monitor. |

No Jane, he wasn't holding his breath.
If i remember, think the chap was with another member of his family and his niece ,having a practice in the pool. Although slightly red faced. He was showing off blowing some bubbles, and i had to swim across and try and take some shots. The image is pretty much as the camera had shot. I have just had a play using auto colour in CS3 looks even worse, interestingly the auto contrast and levels doesn't seem to make much difference. Have looked at the colour balance, moving the slide from red to cyan -10 so lets see what people think. Could be the chap was a ginger haired person, no thats not taking the !!. And no, i dont think he was a milkman ![]() simon.
