It has been a little quiet lately. My own lack of input has related to a couple of things:

1. I've been jolly busy
2. I injured myself one day five weeks ago whilst flying a kite - I can't dive right now because of it and so I'm sulking - hopefully I'll be back underwater in a few weeks I really do want the conditions to be good.

On a slightly different tack but still related, we have had a lot of new member over the past year but with very few intros. I'd really like to understand this anf find out how help people move from just registering to posting - even if they don't say hello.

Tim

I was thinking myself last week that the forum was rather quite and assumed that everyone is off diving. I know that I have been busy with work over the last few months and also spent 3 diving weekends virtually dry, just doing courses so have not had much to offer in terms of pics.

I'm still new and getting to grips with the new housing and camera... big departure for me... also I'm with Jackdiver in that I shoot Raw then don't have time to "cultivate" the pix. Came back from Porthkerris last week with over 300 shots to filter!... once they are done they'll be on here and I'll look to develop my "portfolio" for advice/recommendations... any advice is good advice as I'm still learning... (also all the w/e teaching I do is not helping with free time!)

Have a look at Lightroom. It really is a wonderful product. I am amazed at the speed that I can go through a days shots, delete the dross and adjust the levels on the rest. And trust me, I am a luddite.

I posted a couple from the plymouth weekend and got no feedback so then didn't post my results from Swanage the following weekend

Maybe you've hit the nail on the head there. Perhaps we should all make an effort to comment on photos; but should we make it clear that we want feedback? I'm sure that there are those that only want the "oh, that's lovely" and I worry some have been put off by the comments made.

What I'm going to attempt to do in the future is not only post the best from a trip, but include the worst; those shots that really haven't worked. I have an entire dives worth to pick from for yesterdays dive in Stoney!

That's a great idea Rob, I learn more from bad photos and the comments made than from the good ones! I know what's good just don't seem to get many!

Better to have the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But i wouldnt say no to a couple of thats lovely comments.

Hopefully we all want to take better images, and constructive views will help.

If you want to just show your photos then use the 'show-off' section if you want comments - then the critique bit. Just to be sure tho it might also worth stating what kind of reaction / response you'd like.

me, I am quiet because i am way behind at preparing foto's, due to hooking up with a girl 2 weeks after my trip to the red sea in april. I am still behind on processing, and there are a few dives and another short (nondiving) holiday visiting her in between. I'll try and post some though....
