Question Why is it so quiet?

Why is it so quiet?

One thing I have noticed about Digigreen in recent months is that there isn't the volume of pictures being posted as we had a few years ago. Why is this?

I've become reluctant to post as I'm not getting much feedback. I like people pointing out to me what I've done wrong so that next time I can get it right. I'm also reluctant to post pictures as I don't want to be the only one posting.

I'm not trying to get at anyone; but I know a lot on here have been on trips this year, but no sign of any results. So what is putting people off?

I would have started a poll, but there doesn't seem to be the function here.

So why so quiet?
- I don't feel my photos are good enough
- If I post I just get criticised
- I've not been in the water
- I keep my photos to myself for use elsewhere (competitions)
- I'm a compact diver, so get put off by DSLR photters
- etc etc

I'd just like to see more posted so that we can all help each other get better. I'd also like to see a lot more posting of things that went wrong so that collectively we can work out how to get it right and how to do different things.

Rant over,
Rob

PS I haven't posted anything from Plymouth as I've only processed about 100 of 450 photos - that's my excuse anyway

I Just don't think I've taken anything worth posting recently. Maybe it's just me but the vis always seems to be low when I get out and my shots are spoiled by low contrast or backscatter.

I'm hoping to get out a bit more now I'm back from my annual holiday so hopefully I'll have something to post soon.

I think that I have posted pictures from every trip that I have been on recently . The only exception would be where Whacky, Maria and I went to Swanage to see some murk. I think that the lack of pictures from me is more a sign of a lack in diving then posting.

Daniel,
I'm not getting at you, but you posted 3 photos from a 4 day trip. What about results from Friday, Sunday or Monday?

It is 6 if you include the three that I entered into the Splash In and for which I gave numbers. The other 3 pictures were all from Sunday. Monday was not a successful day and to show how hopeful I am of the shots, I have not even bothered downloading them. I think that the camera is still in the housing.

Well, I can only speak for myself...

So, I'm in the "I don't feel my photos are good enough" camp.

Plus, I've not looked at how to post pictures here.

I also shot raw, and never seem to find the time to convert them, although if I take a picture that I think is really good (for me) then I'll spend some time playing with it, normally to realise that it's not that good after all...

But if you post you can learn. We've all posted rubbish. When you first start out helpful advice can sound like criticism, but if you take it on board the next dive you get better.

Be brave, post away.....

I will try and make up for a lack of pictures in a weeks time. When I am back from Martins trip.

You will be sick of the site of them they will all be mediocre (at best) macro shots as thats all i have. Probably unedited to as I'm not good with photo shop.

In seriousness for me it's a mix of lack of camera and lack of good viz.

But i would agree with you rob.

But then on a plus side i keep posting images just to try and show of some compact shots, and in the hope of learning a bit more.

hey, I''ve also noticed it being quiet on here, but then I've not been here very long and just assumed it was a quiet forum. I find forums like this, where you can get honest critique on your stuff, to be really helpful and the advice I have had here has been great. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and post shots you think are the business in order to hear why they aren't, and learn to improve! Of course, I'll usually allow myself a bit of smug time first if it's one I really like

I post my pictures whenever I have something worth posting, but I'm not out in the water massively often so it's a bit sporadic.
