Ikelite External Mirror
Ikelite sell an external mirror to be used on most of their housings, which means that the image from the electronic viewfinder can be seen from behind - does anyone know if this means that the image is back to front, and if so, do this make it very difficult to shoot accurately?
I was using the eye piece to video in the pool last week and I can imagine it would be difficult to do this in the sea.

Hi Claire
I use an Ikelite external mirror for the reason you mentioned, it's not easy holding the housing up to line up your shots through the viewfinder as well as keeping a steady hand etc, the bit that took me a couple of goes to get the hang of is, when you pan left the image appears to go right and right goes left, but apart from that it's great because you can look over, under or around the housing briefly when filming while also keeping an eye on your subject in the mirror. The only downside is that with the viewing sreen running it shortens the battery time especially in colder temperatures, but this has made me go for more quality shots than quantity.
Happy videoing,
Cheers,
Steve.

Some Ikelite housings have image reversal electronics to make the image appear to be the right way around when viewed in the mirror. I've heard that they can do this even if it's not a standard on that particular housing, although I think it's limited to Lanc camcorders only.
Cheers, Simon
