It may be overlit to some people but it's very atmospheric and made me think 'aliens!' as soon as I saw it Depends what your trying to do really.

I was in Stoney on Saturday diving with Rob. I was keen to give the remote slave idea another go.
All I can report is that my Heinrichs RSU slave trigger unit completely failed to work and now appears to have broken.
I'll have to reserve judgment on the unit for now. A failure after just one dive was dissapointing.

Sorry for my late arrival to this thread.

I agree with Cussy's comments on this one. I also think that you have too much front strobe light on the car - which also undermines the ghostly look. I realise that this may well be to do with the amount of light needed to trip the RSU.

I think remote strobes are one of the more challenging techniques in underwater photography and can be made a lot harder by an unreliable way of triggering them. I found the RSU (Reliable? Shut Up - to give the PG-13 definition) to be as much of a hindrance as a help. The RSU is very sensitive to being plugged in after the strobe has been turned on - and this can cause it to be unresponsive. Check this before binning it.

I recently asked Pete Ladell to build a new pair of strobe triggers for me based on my designs - which work really well. And finally having a reliable way to trigger the strobes, I am beginning to learn how to make the most out of this technique and I am pleased that my images are improving and more importantly my knowledge of this technique is growing.

I'm not ready to give up on the RSU unit quite yet!
I've got a replacement as the first one definetely packed up. Perhaps it was bad luck but I do wonder if these are somewhat fragile these bits of electronics.
I've been out testing again and the RSU unit seems to trigger ok in typical dark Stoney Cove conditions at 20 mtrs. However I just cant get my other strobes to slave off the RSU triggered one. I've tried Inons and Sea & Sea YS110's and both have proved useless as additional cordless slaves. In the dry at home all looks promising but underwater it's a different story.
With a bit of persistence, I'm sure I can find a way through my early novice efforts.
