Alsky and BluDL brave 4deg at Stoney 8.3.10

The day didn't start well despite glorious sunshine My wing had been hanging in the garage and the inflator had a big block of ice frozen in it stopping it working. After I had poured tea into it from my flask, the day could commence.

Having hit the water I realised it was pretty cold. My northern diver 'not very' drygloves didn't work - again - so straight on the net when I got home to find some proper locking ring ones!!

Mind you - after the day was done, it wasn't just this chap who was suffering from over exposure and feeling a little blurry....

Poor old Alex was close to tears I think with the pain of the hot aches. 45 mins in 4 deg c is enough for anyone in wet gloves.

Anyway - we had a great day - despite 3m vis and frost bitten fingers. The pike are starting to show breeding behaviour at both Stoney and Dosthill and the photo opportunities for pike between Mar - May are usually excellent (they tend to compete for females meaning you can get 5 or 6 all together trying to impress the same female)

Anyway - some of my pics- soon to be shadowed into insignificance by Alex's (taken with ixus 900ti compact / epoque es230 strobe)

Cheers for another great day Alex - See you when it's a bit warmer in the water (ouch!!!!)

    Mike

Orphan works is nearly upon us.....

Mike - Make sure you mark your work with a visible "Copyright Mike XXXX" before posting on the web.

Otherwise, your work could be used to endorse Pike Pies....

If these were orphaned images of sharks, the user could get a license from HMG to sell shark fin soup....

This is based on the assumption that the Digital Economy Bill makes it into law. So far, HMG seems hell-bent on doing just that.

Very nice shots, especially as the vis is far from ideal at the mo

I do like the last crayfish shot. Bit of a noise issue but no enough to stop it being a good shot.

    Mike,

Your photos are WAY better than mine from this day. Just goes to show, it's not the size of the tool!

    Cheer for the comments..

YEs- noise is a bit of a problem at ISO above a couple of hundred on the ixus 900. I don't like too much noise filter as it sort of blurs the image.

Need to save up for that DSLR... then I'll need a new excuse

Seriously, I've had another look at my shots and there is nothing worth processing at all. You've done great with your setup Mike!
