Bizarre Pictures
Have just started sorting out photos from Shetland and came across this one.
What I find so odd when I look at it carefully are all the feathers that are mixed in with the sea stars. When you know where it was taken it does go some way to explain it. Above this were cliffs covered with thousands of (mainly gannets) flying back and forth to their perches on the cliffs stained white by their droppings. Its called Noss Head and the Island is a bird sanctuary. However this was actually taken at the back of a very long (dark)cave probably getting for around 100m so I find it strange that quite so many feathers are here. ![]() Anyone else got some 'odd' pics |

You know I have no odd pics whatsoever which means that I'm either unlucky or unobservant.
But then, I do have lots of photos with Mark Davies in them so I guess that counts? Tim

It's perfectly possible that a diving bird has entered a cavern / cave and not found it's way out and died. Should've laid a line

I've got to ask, that is taken underwater yeah?
:embarrassed:The clarity of the water is amazing, if it wasn't for the starfish (who as far as I know can't live out of water!) I'd honestly think that was taken above water!

yep underwater and at the back of a very long (dark) cave,....bit scarey actually... the clarity of the water on all the dives was good, reminded me very much of diving off Skye similar clarity and viz wherever you went. Scotland is such great diving....which why I'm off up to Sound of Mull for a long w/end.. yippee!
never thought of a dead bird..good point |

Wow that must be stunning, even in clear blue water I don't think I've seen clarity like that! An even bigger kick up the bum for me to get up there at some point next year
![]() I know what you mean about scarey - I'm not at all convinced by caves yet!!

Scotland
I must admit we are having some excellent vis on the West coast of Scotland at the moment. The last couple of weeks has been amazing. What's even better is that it's on my doorstep
