As Rob I visited Gildy yesterday (the first time for me) we had a great chance to play in the shallow and get some photos of the Pike and take advantage of the great lighting provided by a low, bright sun.
Unfortunately the sun was so bright that it often resulted in clear backscatter on a number of pictures - and that was without any strobes. Anyway, here are a few of my better attempts: ![]() ![]() ![]()

These are my best efforts of the day:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.![]() Comparing what Tim and I got from the day I think TTL really helped me, as did having the flexibility of 10-17mm with my Tokina, compared to his 10.5. No.5 still needs a bit of work on the belly, but I'm in two minds whether 5 or 7 is the best photo I have EVER taken. Photos 1 & 2 were taken with my new Sigma 105mm, which I think is going to take a bit of getting used to. Rob PS there are lot more shots at Cussy/Guildy 07 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Some very nice images there rob well done, plenty of sun rays and shadows
Very much like the last image with the surface reflection and grasses. simon.

Bloody Hell Rob, those photos looked good on your LCD but on screen they are absolutely cracking!
Well done. Between 5 and 7? I think 5. It has everything for me.

Join the bandwagon, get the 10-17 !!! Then house that D200, get those Inon's on TTL. You know you want to.......... Rob

Between 5 and 7 I certainly prefer 5. Just a bit of a shame about the highlights. My personal preference is for 10. The texture of the surface is what makes it. The horizontal reed is a bit of a detraction but I think the picture is strong enough to carry it.
