Black spot on the back makes me think Butterfish or Gunnel.

Didnt spot this when you first posted it Steve. Definately a butterfish. Pholis gunnellus so sometimes called a gunnel but butterfish sounds so much nicer. The stripe across the cheek and spot on its back are difinative.
Thx Steve BTW for any one thats interested there are still spaces on a Seasearch observers course advertised on YD. Seasearch Observer and Nudibranch ID in Norfolk - YD Dive Forums & Scuba Community I've been meaning to do one for ages (me thinks Mr Ingmire could possibly do with this course ). They are also doing a nudibranch one as well so I've booked onto that one too - have so much trouble seeing the buggers underwater.Last edited by triplefin; 12-04-2008 at 09:10. |
