Hi Mark,
These are very nicely lit shots especially considering that you are using the internal flash on the camera. The close-ups are well done. The fish shots are always going to be a challenge given the flash - the backscatter aside I think the composition in them is good. Time for a camera / strobe upgrade? Tim

hi tim
many thanks for the comments....as for an upgrade im a happy snapper mate..i have no great ideals of being the next top underwater phot...it just takes away some of the boredom of diving i love to dive first and foremost but if i see a pic to be taken i snap away...i do try to think about the composision......but the camera settings are beyond me so i let the camera do the work......

Don't want to steal Mark's thunder, but here are my efforts:
![]() Following things I've heard in talks by Alex Mustard and Martin Edge I did some experimentation with off camera flash. I still had them on the sync cord, so things aren't totally backlit, but still got some good effects. These are probably the best 2. Will try this some more with proper off camera flash when I go back to St Abbs in June: ![]() There are more at Cussy/2008/04_St_Abbs - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting (including lots of photos of Mark) Rob

Some very nice images there rob.
The diver one seems strange, looks like a black and white image, but the colour stands out on the union jack and various other little bits. Love the small crab? or is he some thing different. simon.

This was tiny, I think it's a baby Dublin Bay Prawn, but I could be wrong. We saw very few crabs or Lobsters, usually St Abbs is full of them. Rob

Nice photos! That 'prawn' is a squat lobster, probably Galathea intermedia. Apparently they're very common, but only grow to 18mm (carapace length) so they're pretty small. Nice find!
