Hello!

Hi, thanks for the heads up from Cussy and Triplefin over on YD to register over here for some helpful tips

I'm using a canon 400D in a Hugyfot housing. Currently with one YS90 Duo strobe but hoping to upgrade to the Inon Z240 (or an Ike DS125 - I just can't decide!!) I've had some problems with my Strobe arms not fitting but just recieved some Ultralite ones yesterday so looking forward to using them!

I use a 100mm macro lens (which I'm struggling with!) and a 10-22mm (which I've managed to get some jammy shots with!)

All help gratefully recieved

Hi Tazzie,
You should get a lot of good advice here, there is only so much you can learn from the YD "Oh that's so lovely" replies....

Are you using both lenses behind a flat port or do you have a dome port?

The DS-125 is a good strobe and they regularly turn up on eBay. I bought one from someone on here and one from eBay.

Cussy - I have a dome port for the wide angle yes, it's not a fish eye though which I've been told is what I need? Still not quite sure why though and until I start getting frustrated with my wide angle shots I'll probably stick with it.

ANy ideas what the problem with a standard dome would be?

Hi Tazzie and welcome to Digigreen.

In an ideal world you would have a seperate dome port for each of the wide angle lenses that you use for optimum image quality. In the real world the cost of doing this would prohibitive. I currently have one dome port which I can use for the 3 seperate lenses that I have (18-79, 12-24 and 10.5 FE) - the only difference is that I put an extension behind the port when using the first two lenses because of their size. It's not perfect but it works for me.

Cheers,

Tim

An excellent choice, you're going to love them to little bits. You don't do things by halves, do you!

What, can't find the itty bitty subject in the viewfinder?

I can't really say welcome aboard since I only posted my own Intro five minutes ago.

I'll be totally honest here - I've not got the first clue about diopters
