I've been diving legally since 1987 & attempting to take u/w photo's since 1995 using Subal, Nikon & AquaSea but now Inon strobes. A recent trip to Raja Ampat (not green) introduced me to the advantages of digital eg 200+ shots on a dive compared to 36-38. So I've bought the wife a Lumix TZ3 plus housing and am about to get a natty little converter to run an analog strobe with the digital camera.
Most of my diving has been southern NSW which can be quite murky on a bad day so I reckon it fits with green. Cold water offers opportunites for those who look. Over the years I've been lucky to have met and/or dived with some well known names in the industry and also in some exotic spots incl remote Coral Sea, GBR, Solomon Islands, Vanautu, Red Sea, Greek Islands, Sipadan, Kapalai, Mabul, Sulawesi & recently Rajah Ampat. Whilst I've enjoyed the diving my photo's aren't exactly magazine quality but taken to bore friends with. They seem to like them though. Work has taken me away from active diving for a couple of years but I'm on the way back and looking forwards to utilising the hints, tips, friendships etc that may eventuate from this site. Hello to all. ![]() |

welcome to digigreen, were abouts are you in nsw, right on the coast or mainland more.
Visited Aus 3 years ago, started with Sydney for 5-6 days, then popped up to Cairns, spent a week on the spirit of freedom. Most admit the coral sea was mind blowing. We managed to go to an area they had only dived once in 12 months. Can always remember looking up and seeing a shaol of sail fish above, sharks below and turtles to the left and all within a couple of seconds. And couple of other days there, shot down to melbourne, and then across to perth and dunsborough for 2+ weeks with family and diving. Looking forward to seeing some images. simon

Hello and welcome to Digigreen.
You seem to have dived some pretty cool (or is that warm?) places - but you're right, cold waters hold some fantastic opportunities - they just aren't always to easy to find. Cheers, Tim

By Tim's definition of temperate water diving, fear not, we both qualify. ![]()
