Re: red hot and nudi !!

righto... i'd say..the most likely candidate at the moment is 'Facelina auriculata' I don't suppose you'd have a photo from the front? or in fact the back of one of these wee fellas would you

Re: red hot and nudi !!

Nice, I really like the first shot. There's enough in the background to give a sense of the habitat but not enough to distract from the main subject.

Re: red hot and nudi !!

Nice Pics. I prefer the first one myself but I wonder how it would look with a crop into a portrait format taking in just the nudi and thing it's on - can you try that?

I remember seeing my first Nudi - it was in Galway last year but I didn't have my camera with me - check out Marks article on www.travel-dive.com for the whole story. I think they are lovely things but now tend to be my 'elephant shot' ie - I take then now when I've not come across anything else on the dive - or I see a nice on in a great place (which isn't very often).

Re: red hot and nudi !!

I had a quick play - I do hope you don't mind.

I trimmed a little more off the side to take the Nudi off-centre. I then play with the highlights to bring back some detail in the body and then rotated the whole thing (not sure about that last bit tho).

What do you think?

Re: red hot and nudi !!

righto.. I wasn't overlt sure about what these were, so i went for a second opinion.

I was right!!!

These are Facelina auriculata, and they are on Tubularia indivisa (Oaten pipes Hydroid) which just happens to be their favourite food, so is a damn good place to looke for them.

I have been asked, to ask you, to forward the pics (if you want to) to Dr. Bill Rudman at
http://www.seaslugforum.net/

He is one of the people who dedicate their lives to these little things, and is compiling a database of them... and he would welcome any photos of Nudibranchs, even if you don't know what they are.
