Monthly Challenge - December 2007

Well, as Simon has ever so politely and discreetly reminded me we haven't had one of these for a while.

So as it is the last month of 2007 I'd thought we would do something a little different this time around and have not a theme but: Your Best Photos of the Year.

Present these in the form of a portfolio that you would for a competition (see the BSOUP site for guidelines UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY - BSoUP Open Portfolio)
which means only 6 photos.

Have fun with this one.

Is it the idea to place all the pics in a one view portfolio with a black background, as discussed in this thread

Portfolio - BSoUP Best of British

EDIT; after looking at the link Tim gave, I feel a tad stupid as it is all explained there.....

As we are on Digigreen, I hope we are talking green water shots.

If you have some great Green water shots then use those.

Lets say no more than 3 blue water shots.

I tought I'd have a go, but I dont seem to get the method mentioned in the link to work: the picture just sits in the middle and wont move, no matter if I have checked the guideline option or not.

Well, I am at least able to drag images around now, but I stil have to line them up myself.

Well: first year of digital diving: Lots of problems, one strobe flood, broken sync cord, TTL issues, and since last weekend, my second strobe is not seen anymore by the camera: so its off to Ikelite for the 2nd time.

But still: this more or less made it worthwile

Gerard,
That's an impressive portfolio, nice range of shots. May I ask what the 6 images are of?

Thanks for the kind words Rob,

Altough I promised myself to include some of the Netherlands: it turns out these are all of Bretagne, near Carantec:

Diver and Gurnard (this has been cropped to vertical format)
jewel anemones
abalone (or is that only the american name, sea-ear we call it in Dutch)
a tube worm close up (funny thing was I had to come this close, because I forgot to put the lens in AF)
Close up of Red dead mans fingers
School of anchovy or similar small fish (took while snorkeling)

First and last image are using the 15mm FE, the other are with the 60mm macro. (The 100 mm macro is on order, as are some diopters).

Don't know if these are really the greatest. But some of the local diving pics are not interesting enough in small format (a picture of a camouflaged flatfish looks just like a picture of sand)

I hope that my strobe issue will be sorted (but then, I dont dive that often in winter, normally it's march / april before I get in the water again)

Gerard
