Re: FArnes OCtober 2006
Some spot healing would clean up this picture. I like the angle of the shot, not the usual side on view...He looks quit tame.

Jules, to reduce the backscatter on a shot like this where the background is black isn't that difficult.
You need to select the fish using the magic selector tool, then inverse the selection (from the menus) and then you have a couple of choices, delete to black to get rid off all the backscatter; all although this can look unnatural. The alternative is to just darken the selection - a lot of the backscatter will dissapear and you can then choose how much to keep. Not too difficult. I can put up some screen shots if it helps

He gets about a bit! I took a picture of the self-same fish in Mull in the spring!
![]() Same pose! Must be a behavioural characteristic of the species.

Re: FArnes OCtober 2006
OK Jules a photo by photo step through the process:
Firstly, select the fish. In PS CS you can use the magnetic Lasso Tool as here: ![]() The selection should look like this: ![]() Once seleted, then Invert the selection so that everything other than the fish is selected: ![]() Then darken the selection to 'remove' the backscatter: ![]() You then get the result as follows: ![]() Hope that helps
