How to submit competition prints??

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of entering a couple of prints in this years BUIF competition, I've never entered any prints in a competition before (apart from doing the St Abbs splash-in for the last three years) so I am hoping someone can offer me a bit of advice as to the best way to submit the prints, I know the rules say prints must be no larger than A4 including borders, do I leave a border around the print & if so how what size? also when they say border is that just a plain white unprinted border?
Any advice would be most appreciated.

THANKS

Paul

Martha was saying that last year they used standard mounts and so the print needed to be a standard size. This year I think they are sticking the prints onto the board.

A black line around the print will - in most circumstances - really help the print stand out. Other than that, print as large as you can. You do not want any waste space.

As I understand, they are no rules against the use of any type of border and so I think you have a free hand.

Thanks again for the info Daniel,
I finally got round to printing a couple of images for the BUIF and posted them today, I was starting to think I wasn't going to get round to entering as the deadline is only a week away now.

Looks like I might not have any images in this years BUIF,
I posted then on Tuesday using Royal Mail 1st class registered, but according to track & trace they haven't turned up yet, F*&$%^g Royal Mail, Teaches me to leave it to a week before the deadline.

Anyway on the plus side, it will give the rest of you guys a chance

Good luck with your entries
Paul

I'm pretty sure Jane Morgan is sorting BUIF and she's diving with sharks at the moment. Drop her a line and say it's in the post - you have proof.

I sent mine Thursday un-registered post. Hope they turn up!

I will see if I have time to print them again tomorrow (busy trying to get everything ready for the Easter trip thou) then send them on Monday by Special delivery & keep my fingers crossed.
I have sent a three sets of prints out over the last two weeks by Recorded delivery, every one turned up the next day, but when there is a deadline they don't turn up, SODS bloody LAW.

I managed to get another set of prints posted yesterday, by Special delivery this time, and they have been delivered, so I should be in the competition.

If the original ones were delivered, do you think that doubles my chances.

Good Luck again to anyone else that entered (not quite as much look as I need though)
