What Softwre

Hi all, can anyone recommend a software package for phot viewing and editing for a beginner who would like to get better please?
I dont know what everyone is using or if there is a standard? or how pricey they are for that matter.

Adobe Photoshop Elements (Now version 6 I think) - it's got all the stuff necessary and costs around £45 if you shop around.

Alternatively, GIMP and Picasa are available as free downloads off the net and will do the vast majority of what you need, though how well I don't know.

For RAW files, Rawtherapee is available as a free download from the net and is (In my far from expert opinion) very good.

Picasa is worth a look. There's also PhotoShop Express which is a free web based editing tool.
