The Button Fell Off!!!!
While in the Red Sea I had a dive where the camera was really confusing me. It was obvious one of the buttons was depressed, but couldn't work out which one - the problem also seemed to come and go. When I took the camera out that evening it became obvious the silvery shutter release button had snapped off. Wasn't really a problem for the rest of the week, but it was the half press of the shutter that was causing the confusion.
Just had a quote of £75 to put it right! Will the expense of underwater photography ever stop?!?!?!?! Any one else had this problem, or was I just a bit heavy handed while the macro lens wouldn't focus? Rob

Not had this, but when I got the Ikelite housing the shutter release lever was pressing on the rim around the shutter button instead of in the centre of it, so the camera wouldn't focus and the shutter wouldn't fire. A pair of pliers sorted it.
Only other issue I've had was the e-clip around the shaft of the image review button snapping, so the shaft was loose and could be pulled out of the hole it passes through. A new e-clip (75p from Cameras Underwater) and my pliers sorted that as well. Oh, just remembered! Bought a load of Ikelite stuff cheap off ebay, and used the short macro port thus acquired with the kit lens for some fish pics - which was fine except the port O ring was weeping every so slightly. That was my fault for being tight, though. |
