How much is this set up worth?

Hi,

Could anyone more knowledgeable give me a guestimate at how much they think this lot is worth? (According to sellers questions includes strobe)

Ikelite underwater housing for Nikon D70S on eBay, also, Underwater Cameras, Film Cameras, Photography (end time 17-May-08 16:45:03 BST)

Thanks
Helen

Ps Not that I'm tempted, honest

Helen,
It's worth whatever someone will pay.....lol

I bought a second hand DS-125, single cord and arm for about £400 (new is about £700). This housing is about £800 new, port is about £130. No idea about the case - but they aren't cheap. So full RRP I'd say £1700ish.

It's been used once - WHY? weird

No mention of strobe charger.

This has a high starting price and a reserve. For a D70 housing it sounds a bit high to me, even if it's only been used once.
HTH,
Rob

Thanks for that Rob.

I thought it was quite a high starting price too and while i could find prices for the housing on the web, couldn't price everything else up and who knows what the reserve is. I also thought it was strange that he didnt mention the strobe was included in the listing! I am really torn at the moment between getting a housing for the D70 and buying a lens adaptor/ some nice lenses for my Fuji F30 (and maybe putting it in an ikelite housing instead of the fuij one). Ooh decisions, decisions!

Think I'll prob give this one a miss for now, especially since I'm about to go to bed after working a night so wont be able to watch the end of the auction. Will be interesting to see if and what it sells for.

Thanks again. Goodnight!
Helen

Just checked and the auctions finished with no bids. I think the starting price was probably a reasonable price to pay, assuming the charger was included. New strobe arm and charger is £700 so £400 for that would be reasonable another £400 for the housing although this may be a little high as it's a very limited market now the D70 is discontinued. That leaves £100 for the Peli case which is £255 new and the port. Problem I have is I wouldn't really want the case particulary as it weighs 10.5 Kg so now use for airlines, and for carrying in a car a cheap box that you can store your camera set up ready to go is a cheaper, better option. The port is only any use if it fits a lens you plan to use. So if it was me I'd be thinking more around £750 tops. Then maybe I'm just a cheapskate.
