Ring flash on the cheap?
A few months ago I was thinking; I've got two powerful strobes, why can't someone make some form of adapter that could turn one or both into a ring-flash? Having a clip-on diffuser/box thingy for my Nikon SB-600 I thought that surely it was possible.
Anyway, today I got the ThinkCamera newsletter and there's a review of such a thing for topside photography: Ray Flash Review - ThinkCamera Reviews with more photos here Ringflash adaptor for Nikon SB800 and Canon 580EX I'm quite tempted to get to see one of these to see if it can be modified to work underwater and attach to my Ikelite strobe. The advantage I can see of something like this is if properly made it could be an attachment that could be used when wanted, or removed underwater to use a strobe as normal. Rob

It should definitely be worth having a word with Ken Sullivan next week. If he can't sort if out then no-one can.
I do like the idea. I've seen Ken's shot with his ringflash and they certainly have a good look about them. I understand that he currently builds them on to a port but I don't see why an add on cannot work. I'd go for one. daniel |
