An arm and a leg!
At the weekend Maria borrowed a bendy arm. She didn't really get on with it, finding it difficult to get into the positions that she wanted. I have to admit that I have also been toying with the idea of getting rid of both of mine because they are just not flexible enough to get in the right place when shooting macro.
I've been pricing up the idea of getting some Inon arms. Looking at the price list from OO I have to say that I was horrified. 3 lots of 2 x 6 or 8 inch arms with 3 clamps each and connectors is over £1000! I have looked at Yuzo's site and even here it comes out at £450 before carriage, VAT and duty. Ultralight are slightly cheaper but not much. Anyone recommend other alternatives or cheaper suppliers? |

Daniel,
Does it have to be Inon? I did a trawl and came across this site in Germany a while back UW-Fotopartner.de I was only after clamps and these were the cheapest I could find. The metal stuff is made by Saekodive, wonder if Yuzo can source this? Rob PS Should point out this shop was at the NEC DiveShow, so may be back this year as well. There was plenty about the flexy arms on YD at the time

I did buy some bits from this stand at the London show. They were doing the Fantasea focus lights. The B&J arms are also often sold as Fantasea but I have never really heard much about them. Bearing in mind they are a lot cheaper I would have thought that they would be quite popular. Even Wetpixel seems to have little about them other than the fact that they didn't originally have spring loaded clamps and the little rubber rings on the balls (which I believe that they now do).
Have you ever seen them? |

Have a look at Sea and Sea Sea Arms.
Might be what you're after. Cameras Underwater: Sea & Sea arms and trays

I did look at the S&S arm sets but didn't really like the look of them. You also only get 2 joints rather than the more normal three.
As I have said before, buy cheap, buy twice. That is exactly what I now expect to do. I have ordered 2 set of arms from the States for a whopping £40 each plus another £20 for a couple of ball base units. I rather expect to be putting them on ebay anytime soon. For this money I get an 8 inch + 6 inch arm, 3 clamps, and a strobe connector. We will see. Daniel |
