South Africa and my new DSLR!

Hi all,

Thought I'd show you a few shots from my recent trip to South Africa and my new acquisition of a Nikon D70s. Overall really happy with the camera, still only know how to do really basic things but loving what I've got so far. I think the thing that impresses me most so far about the DSLR as opposed to a compact camera is the speed which you can take repeated photos i.e. the very little lag time in writing to card. Still remains to be seen whether i will house it for underwater (mainly a cost issue I think at the moment). Here's just a few of many hundreds of photos taken! Any comments would be welcome.

I was quite happy with this considering i didn't have a macro lens

A Nyalla

This is one of my favourite shots of the holiday. The cheetahs were such beautiful animals.

Thanks for looking
Helen

Thanks both. Was using the zoom lens that came in a package with the camera which was this one... Nikon Zoom Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 AFG Lens.

Wow nice lens to come as a package!

I keep coming back to look at your shot of the cheetahs - talk about peak of the action, it's fantastic!

The Cheetahs were by far my favourite animal. So beautiful. We were very lucky to be be in a game park where they did everything they could to find what you wanted to see. On the first day we saw a solitary female cheetah which I thought was amazing so to see a female and 3 cubs the next day was really special. I think that is my favourite of my cheetah photos but here's a few more for you:
