Perfect light in Sweden

Hei Hei,
I'm currently away with work in northern Sweden, Lycksele to be precise (although I was in Oskashamn in southern Sweden at start of last week). This last weekend was glorious weather and thankfully we knocked off early on Saturday, so the afternoon and Sunday was dedicated to photography and travelling around.

On a perfectly clear and still day the conditions here are amazing. As we're so far north (not that far off the arctic circle) the sun sets at a low angle, so the sunsets just go on and on and on and Saturday was really spectacular.

Sunday we went into the mountains to Tarnaby and as we were so close decided to go over to Norway, not for any particular reason other than we could.

Here are my favourite shots from the trip so far:

All the good ones are here:

My camera club seems to think sunsets are a no-no, but when the scene is this spectacular I say b*110cks to them!

Nice shots Rob. Just to give consistent feedback, my favourites would be 2 and 7.

Picture 2 is the aircraft I work on, which at the moment is grounded as it has been tipped down for the past two days.

Picture 7 is about a 25 second exposure of my hotel.

Picture 8 & 9 was an amazing place somewhere on the E12 before Tarnaby. The water was perfectly still and the visibility was phenominal. Just made me wish I had scuba gear with me, although that clear = lifeless!

Progress is poor, so looks like I'll have another day off here next Sunday. May head north and enter the arctic circle just to say I've been there.

Not sure I actually picked out the best sunset shots or shots of the golden light that starts at about 6pm.

Very nice pictures - wouldn't it be nice to say that we get similar shots going up the M1!

Rob, I've been playing with HDR the last couple of days -looks like a great place to try for HDR shots.

For me, 1,3 and 4 stand out.

All shots here are straight from camera. I did take a few shots on RAW with HDR in mind. I've also done 5 full spherical panoramas, but Virgin wont let me access my website to host them and share. These would be great for HDR as it was a very bright, clear, sunny day.

I've tried using RAW but seem to get better results with seperate photos - all jpgs. I'll post some later.

I know what you mean, but I practice with single RAW images as don't dive with a tripod often enough, so underwater HDR has to come from a single image.

Oh, I've not anything UW yet - just topside stuff. I'll be giving it a go hopefully this weekend - first dive since the injury so hopefully all will go well.
